A New Life Celebration

Apr 10, 2024 | Street Peace

In March there was a beautiful celebration of the newness of life at Street Peace. We held our very first Nest Gender Reveal for a couple. The couple declared, “We could not think of a better way to host our bub’s gender reveal but amongst their Street Peace peers and volunteers.” It was such an honour to witness the joy and the surrounding support the youth had for each other in this very special moment. Once the popper sprinkled the room with blue confetti, (woohoo —— it’s a precious boy!) — the youth erupted with cheering, laughter and running up to the couple for hugs.

Psalm 139 was expressed throughout this moment, that the God of the universe surely created this baby’s inmost being and is knitted together in the womb! How fearfully and wonderfully is everyone He has ever made!

Some members of our community got around this special day, and in their generosity and love, made vanilla cupcakes. Once the Nest family knew the gender of the baby, the volunteers had set up a station whereby the youth could mix in the blue food dye and add blue sprinkles to their very own cupcake. We want to thank Bek and AJ for the batches of cupcakes. They were delicious!

This day was also marked extraordinary as 3 of our very own youth Nest members, aged got baptised in water in an inflatable pool in the alleyway!

The Nest for all youth, is their church. Our drop-in hub is a place where Christ Jesus is presented and glorified. One of the boys shared why they want to be baptised to a youth mentor and exclaimed; “that he had a change of heart and wants to know the WAY OF PEACE”. This quickly reminded the youth mentor why Street Peace is a mere opportunity to lead broken Australian youth into the arms of the Father they yearn for. It is truly the ministry of reconciliation!

Ash Schofield shared with the crowd of witnesses on-looking the baptisms, that baptism is a grave and an entry point to new life in Jesus!

Galatians 2:20 says; ’I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.’

Another youth before their baptism shared that in their time of coming to the Nest they have gotten “closer and closer to God – I’m ready to start becoming a new person and wash away the past.”

Many of our youth have an increasing hope found in Jesus and are willing to be a new creation in Him!
