A Day of Impactful Giving and Connection
The students at Bayside Christian College recently embraced an incredible opportunity to support Street Peace, raising funds through various activities and showcasing their generous spirit. It was a joy to spend quality time with the students, encouraging them to reflect on the privileged lives they lead and to open their hearts to those less fortunate.
We also made sure to keep the day fun and engaging! One highlight was the interactive games session led by Junior, who introduced a powerful teamwork-focused game. Junior did a fantastic job running the activity, which carried a lifelong message about the importance of unity and working together. Students who showed great character, compassion, and participation were rewarded with prizes, creating a positive atmosphere that celebrated more than just competition—it celebrated community and empathy.
A highlight of the day was seeing so many year groups come together to participate in the mini carnival. The Year 9 students truly went above and beyond, setting up their stands with enthusiasm and showing impressive planning skills. We were especially touched by those who offered to get their hair cut to raise funds for Street Peace—such a heartfelt display of selflessness and support.
There were also some deeply personal wins that left a lasting impact. One young girl, after hearing our message, asked if she could check in with us instead of visiting other services like Headspace because she felt more comfortable connecting with Street Peace. Another student thanked Gina for sharing part of her personal story and appreciated the prayers I offered for the school. Even one of the teachers came up to me, moved by what I shared about the gospel, admitting that she was brought to tears. She said it stirred her heart to hear someone openly addressing the issues of confusion, anxiety, and depression that students face today.
The day was an inspiring reminder of the power of connection and generosity. Seeing these young people step up to support Street Peace and hearing their responses to our message of hope and change was truly uplifting. We look forward to many more opportunities to partner with schools like Bayside Christian College to continue spreading our mission of empowering at-risk youth and fostering positive, lasting change in our community.
